Karl Wohlwend performs throughout the United States, as a soloist and in chamber music. He is in demand for musical collaboration, appearing with such notables as Eric Ewazen, composer-in-residence at Julliard, Carlo Aonzo, the world's leading classical mandolinist, and Grammy-winning countertenor, Ian Howell. Recent appearances include performances with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra, with whom he recorded a Grammy-nominated recording of the music of William Bolcom; a week-long residency with Alarm Will Sound; and a performance at the Ravinia Festival’s “Rising Stars” series in Chicago.  Karl has also recently formed the Eos Duo with flutist Kimberlee Goodman, and has collaborated with Eugene Braig in Gruviera Armonico since 2004.

His devotion to the rich, 500-year repertoire for guitar is apparent to audiences everwhere, prompting the Washington, DC Guitar Society to note his “command of technique, beautiful tone, and sensitive musicianship,” while the Outer Banks Forum for the Lively Arts (Kitty Hawk, NC) praises his “extraordinary talent.” He has received numerous awards for his playing, including high recognition at the prestigious Great Lakes International Classical Guitar Competition.

In addition to his traditional performances, you will also find Karl providing exquisite entertainment and creating the perfect atmosphere for black-tie ceremonies as well as informal dinners and parties. Many request him as a soloist, and he also frequently pairs tastefully with instruments such as flute, mandolin, or violin.


Those in the know are also aware of Karl's work as an arranger, producer, and recording engineer at dBMusic Production and as a fun-loving member of side projects such as the Celtic band Knot Fibb'n and the pop-rock group The Mac.
